Since 1 November 2009, the province of Utrecht has held exclusive authority to designate locations within the province from which aircraft may land and take off. This does not apply to national airports, police patrols, trauma helicopter flights and military aviation. The Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management remains responsible for regulating the flight behaviour of aeroplanes. The Ministry also supervises flight safety and all security aspects at airfields.
Aircrafts require our permission to take off from a site within the province of Utrecht. Such permission may be granted by means of a TUG (Temporary and Exceptional Utilisation) dispensation, an airport arrangement or an airport order.
